Join us to view this jewel box of a museum for our sixth event! You are welcome to sign up whether you have visited before or if this is your first time. They have over 3,000 unique works and this new exhibit has just opened at this beautiful museum.

This first major touring exhibition for artists and brothers Einar and Jamex de la Torre (b. 1963 and 1960, Guadalajara, Mexico), Collidoscope: De la Torre Brothers Retro-Perspective presents 37 works of sculpture and installation described by The New York Times as art of “dazzling complexity.” As residents of both Mexico and the United States, the artists draw upon their witty observations of life from both sides of the border. Pulling from ancient Mesoamerican iconography, Mexican folk art, and Baroque art, their work blends art history and pop culture with daring social and political commentary, presenting art with celebration, irreverence, and play.

After the tour, those who want to socialize are welcome to meet for happy hour at the beautiful Churchill Street Restaurant next door to the museum. The tour is one hour long but I put 1-1/2 hours to include some happy hour gathering time.

Do not sign up for this event unless you are positive you will be able to attend and put it on your calendar right away. It is a strict rsvp ticketed event and all participants will need to confirm 5 days before the event. If confirmation is not received within 24 hours of the meetup confirmation request then the next person on the waitlist will be given that ticket. So please check your email and meetup event comments regularly. I have the tickets (no charge to you) but there are no last minute cancellations permitted by the museum. Following the museum meetup guidelines will allow us to keep working with this wonderful venue. Thanks so much!

The Cafesjian Art Trust was established by the family of Gerard Cafesjian to share his collection of Contemporary and Modern art with the public.
"Our mission is to provide an aesthetic and educational experience through our collection for the benefit of the public.
Founder Gerard Cafesjian's passion for contemporary art, particularly glass, inspired him to assemble one of the most extensive and finest collections of contemporary glass sculpture in the world. Masterworks by well-known Modern and Contemporary artists such as Victor Vasarely, Georges Broque, Joan Miro, Arshile Gorky and many others are also represented in the collection.
Gerard L. Cafesjian was a businessman and a philanthropist. In addition to establishing several charitable foundations, in 1988 he joined an effort to save a 1914 merry-go-round that had spun at the Minnesota State Fairground for 75 years. He contributed several million dollars to save the 68-horse carousel from being broken up and auctioned off and to re-open the carousel which now bears his name on a pavilion in Como Park. Mr. Cafesjian had a passion for art that consumed his life for more than six decades.
The building that houses the Cafesjian Art Trust Museum is one of a kind. Architecture firm Mohagen Hansen transformed this former engineering firm into a world-class art museum. The most striking features are the blue glass facade and oval-shaped library.
The building was given a Top Project Award of 2022 by Minnesota’s Finance & Commerce.
