M.T. Pockets & Loose Change at Market Square Park, Mendota Heights
Details
M.T. Pockets and Loose Change plays a fun, energetic, blend of classic soul, R&B, Motown, swing, and pop hits with its tight rhythms (yes!), multiple lead vocalists, and a dynamic five-piece horn section.
They cover a wide variety of artists including: The Blues Brothers, Stevie Wonder, James Brown, Three Dog Night, Van Morrison, Tower of Power, Huey Lewis, The Doobie Brothers and many more.
They play the dance hits!

Market Square Park is a little (quarter-acre) town square style public mini-park set smack dab in the middle of the Village at Mendota Heights commercial development.
Mendota Heights Music in the Parks website:
https://www.mendotaheightsmn.gov/438/Music-in-the-Park
Music starts at 6:00 PM. I'll be there by 5:00 PM.
Get there early, if you can, for introductions and conversation before the music starts.
Dancing is optional, though encouraged.
I'll be dancing to at least some of the songs.
Join me!
Note: Hard dancing surface with some cracks and creases -
Part of the surface is brick where the dancers typically are, and part is concrete. I posted a photo from Google Maps Street View on this page.
Maybe someone has an idea of a nearby after-music "watering hole" - or ice cream at nearby Cold Stone Creamery? Or, just lingering in the park a while after the music is over, depending on the weather, can also be pleasant.
Bring a lawn chair or a blanket. Seating isn't supplied. There are a few picnic tables, which may be a seating option, as well.
Parking:
I'm expecting the free on-street parking to be plentiful, but if not I see there's a free public parking lot nearby, near the intersection of Linden and Market Streets.
Rest Rooms:
I expect that there won't be port-a-potties. Nearby restaurants - Ze's Diner and Coldstone Creamery, in particular - are very open to members of the public using their restrooms during Music in the Park events.
Naturally, they most likely prefer that you buy something from them, but that they will allow you to use their restrooms even if you don't.
Food options:
I don't expect there to be food trucks.
Ze's Diner is open until 8 PM, and Cold Stone Creamery until 9 PM. These are both right there near the park.
UPDATED for 2026:
The Mendota Heights Tommy Chicago's location shut down late last year.
Confirmed: there are no port-a-potties.
I phoned Ze's Diner. They're glad to have you use their restroom if you're there for the music. Naturally, they'd love to have you buy something, also. They're open until 8:00 PM.
Coldstone Creamery is open until 9:00 PM. Other fast food and fine food options are across Highway 62 in Mendota Plaza.
In Case of Inclement Weather:
I'll monitor, and feel free to do so yourself, Mendota Heights Parks and Rec's Facebook page in the event of cancellation due to weather:
https://www.facebook.com/MHParksandRec/
I'll add a comment on this page as soon as possible in the event of a cancellation or delay due to the weather.
How to find us:
I look like my photo. I'll be wearing my multi-color "jungle leaves" design cap. Shaded areas, that are close to the dance area, are limited. Look for, near us, a 5 ft. green pole with a blue pennant attached to it.
