Shelving Rock Hike and Waterfall Shoot

Details

Shelving Rock is a nice little mountain overlooking the southern section of Lake George. There's also a beautiful waterfall near the base of the mountain that would be great to photograph.

Parking is on Shelving Rock Rd just before Shelving Rock bridge (43.55192, -73.59650). From there we will cross the bridge and work our way up to the Shelving Rock trailhead. There should be some great views of Lake George from the top.

On our way back down, we'll head right instead of left so we can do the Shelving Rock Falls trail which will bring us to the Shelving Rock Falls waterfall.

Bring water, any camera you may have, good hiking shoes, and insect repellant. I believe modern smart phone cameras do have a pro mode, so you may be able to reduce light sensitivity and increase shutter speed to produce a blur effect. Although, if you do happen to have a camera with a tripod, the tripod will help keep the camera stable so that only the falling water gets an artistic motion blur.

The difficulty level should be easy and the total hike is about 4-5 miles round trip. It shouldn't take more than 3-4 hours to complete.

We'll meet at 9:00 AM at the Hannaford back parking lot off Exit 15 for carpooling (43.09750793597689, -73.74538762415852).
