Screw the Apps: A 21+ Dating Mixer in Portland, Maine
We are all tired of dating apps, which is why two of Portland’s most established and successful dating groups are coming together to host the biggest dating mixer of 2025.

Hosted by Portland Maine Singles and The Bug Club of Maine, Screw the Apps is a 21+ dating mixer for people in their 20s, 30s, and 40s.
We understand that dating mixers can feel intimidating. Maybe you have been to one before where the group felt too small, the ages were not aligned, or the gender ratio was off. This event is being designed for success, and here is how we are making it different.

What Makes This Event Special

Personalized Name Tags
Every attendee will receive a name tag with their name, age, and top five interests. You will fill this out at check-in. This makes conversations natural and easy because you will see mutual interests right away. You can also immediately identify people in your preferred age group.

Games and Activities
Instead of being stuck in small talk, you will have opportunities to join fun games at several tables throughout Bayside Bowl. These activities make it easier to relax, connect, and enjoy yourself.

Complete Transparency
Buying a ticket without knowing what to expect can feel stressful. That is why we are providing full visibility. Our ticketing platform (Posh) will display the total number of attendees. In addition, we will post weekly updates on Instagram showing how many people are attending in each age group and what the gender balance looks like.

The age groups for this event are
-21 to 25 (Young 20s)
-26 to 35
-36 to 45
-and 45 plus

While we welcome everyone, the main focus of this event is singles in their 20s and 30s. We are advertising through local businesses, social media ads, and community partners to make sure we have strong attendance across all groups.

The Match Card System
At the end of the night, you will receive a card with every attendee’s name printed on it. You can mark the people you would like to connect with. If they choose you as well, we will provide both of you with each other’s contact information. You can still ask for numbers during the event, but this system removes the pressure and gives you a safe, simple backup plan.

Event Details
Tickets are $20 per person. Each ticket includes one free drink, your choice of beer, wine, cocktail, or a mocktail.
