What we're about

Do you like to read? Try new restaurants? And meet new people? Then this group is for you. This group is designed for people in their 20s and 30s who want to read the latest great book and meet others with similar interests. We will meet once a month for lunch/brunch somewhere in the Orlando area and discuss that month's book. When those books inevitably become movies, we can plan movie outings, as well. At each meeting, we will vote for a new book and restaurant for the next location.

August: Looking for Alaska @ BJs

Needs a location

Join us for our August meetup to discuss, Looking for Alaska by John Green: Miles Halter is fascinated by famous last words–and tired of his safe life at home. He leaves for boarding school to seek what the dying poet Francois Rabelais called the “Great Perhaps.” Much awaits Miles at Culver Creek, including Alaska Young. Clever, funny, screwed-up, and dead sexy, Alaska will pull Miles into her labyrinth and catapult him into the Great Perhaps. Green was awarded the 2006 Michael L. Printz Award for Looking for Alaska.

September: Recursion @ Mama Romano's

Mama Romano's

September's Book is Recursion by Blake Crouch: Memory makes reality. That’s what New York City cop Barry Sutton is learning as he investigates the devastating phenomenon the media has dubbed False Memory Syndrome—a mysterious affliction that drives its victims mad with memories of a life they never lived. Neuroscientist Helena Smith already understands the power of memory. It’s why she’s dedicated her life to creating a technology that will let us preserve our most precious moments of our pasts. If she succeeds, anyone will be able to re-experience a first kiss, the birth of a child, the final moment with a dying parent. As Barry searches for the truth, he comes face-to-face with an opponent more terrifying than any disease—a force that attacks not just our minds but the very fabric of the past. And as its effects begin to unmake the world as we know it, only he and Helena, working together, will stand a chance at defeating it. But how can they make a stand when reality itself is shifting and crumbling all around them?
