Details
There's an Anime convention in Duluth at the Gas South Convention Center that only cost $5 to enter. Tickets will be sold at the door. I dont know much about this convention but I figured i would check it out.
"Trade in up to five old manga to get one dollar each towards your entry fee into AnimeDay" was listed on the website.

Absence policy
This event will follow under our absence policy. Please update your RSVP to no if you will not be able to attend an event. Anyone who RSVP and does not attend (without changing their RSVP to No) 3 times you will be removed from the group. This also applies to changing your RSVP 6 hours before the start of an event.
This rule does not apply to anyone who is on the waitlist, and their status is changed to attending due to someone else changing their RSVP to no within 48 hours of the event.
