What we’re about
FORMERLY NAMED 20S NEW TO DMV.
The main purpose of this group is to meet new people and see new places. This group is targeted to everyone from outgoing social butterflies to introverts and those less socially comfortable and everyone in between.
None of the events revolve around drinking. While there is almost always a bar around, we generally gather around large tables or lounge areas where some people order drinks, some order food and others just hangout. Also, some venues have activities like board games, bowling, pool, or mini golf for those who are interested. We do our best to avoid crowded or overly loud places. Though it is not uncommon for subgroups to go out elsewhere after events particularly on Saturday nights.
We generally have a pretty good mix of first timers, occasional attendees, and regulars though everyone is here in part because they want to meet NEW people. We try to facilitate an inviting environment and encourage people to interact but in a very non-forceful way. The only thing most of us generally have in common is that we are young adults relatively new to DC (though you don't have to be either) which means a lot of us are in the same position of wanting to meet others and explore our new home!
A few things to note:
1. Most if not all of the events are near a DC metro stop. The ease of available parking is often taken into consideration.
2. There is USUAUALLY not a charge for ATTENDING events.
3. We sometimes don't know where within a venue we will be until right before the event starts. However, I always make updates in the event chat and/or the discussion board with very specific details on our location. Since we wear name tags, it should be easy to find us!
Still have questions or concerns about anything (navigating the city at night, finding us, feeling comfortable, etc) or have any specific requests. Please message or text me (number on event page).
