Ride Sally Ride 2019
Details
This is a bike race, but don't let that fool you, we're going to have fun and to see how we do when we ride our hardest (or something that rounds up near it). If you're new to racing (this will be my 4th), then here are the basic details. Show up at least an hour early, find the check in table where you'll sign the waiver, sign your 1 day USAC license, and pin your number. Then warm up on your trainer or on some road not on the race course. When your category is scheduled to go, you ride as hard as you can for 35 minutes and then see how you did. This course is a triangular and almost entirely flat. Come out, ride your bike, and have fun! You can be the slowest person out there (me a couple of times) and still have fun because nobody is going to judge you, they'll just be happy you came!
Mens category 4/5 (novice group) starts at 8am
Womens caretory 4/5 (novice also) starts at 11:25am
EVENT NOTES: This is a MABRA road cup event and age graded criterium championship. Riders must be eligible per MABRA rules. This is a class 1 event for scoring purposes.
REGISTRATION: Registration opens Wednesday, May 1st at 8 AM and closes Wednesday, June 5th at 9 PM. Race-day registration opens at 7:00 AM and closes 15 minutes prior to each race. Unlicensed riders must also purchase a one-day license and may only enter the category 4/5 races.
COST AND FEES: The online registration entry fee is $35 for all events except the Juniors races, which are $10. 2nd races are $25 each. Day-of registration will include a $10 late fee per race.
Entry fee does not include BikeReg and MABRA fees.
WAITLISTS: Available on a first come/first served basis for any field that fills prior to on-line registration closing. If spaces are available, those on the waitlist will be called 15 minutes prior to the race.
COURSE: 1 km triangular clockwise course on wide streets and sweeping turns closed to traffic.
DIRECTIONS: The race will be held on Sally Ride, Davis, and Glenn drives in Sterling, VA, 20164. Route 28 to South Sterling Blvd and turn right on Davis Drive. Or you can easily ride to the race - we'll be 200 yards south of the W&OD. Location map: Ride Sally Ride course.
RACE INFORMATION: Races are held rain or shine under Criterium rules. A wheel pit will be available (wheels in, wheels out), with the free lap rule in place. No neutral wheels. Combined fields will race together but be scored separately.
