=============================================
Come meet other classical music fans and enjoy exclusive performances at a new series of "social + concert" events that I am producing myself.
For the first installment, the talented duo of countertenor Jeffrey Palmer and pianist Riko Higuma return with a program entitled "Spring Awakening"!
Many of you attended their wonderful "Winter Words" recital at the Steinway showroom in December of 2015. Well, the venue has changed, but with diverse selections ranging from Giovanni Battista Pergolesi to John Cage to Tori Amos, as well as a number from the musical "Itself!", this should be another great evening, with lots of "springy" pieces for voice, piano and... toy piano??

THE EILEEN SIEGEL MEMORIAL CONCERT SERIES
Named in honor of my late sister, who shared the gift of music with many others as a teacher, journalist, violinist and pianist, the goals of the series are to:
-
Present quality concerts at affordable prices.
-
Do so sustainably, i.e. without overreliance on government grants or private donations, which can too easily disappear. (Currently, funding is entirely from ticket sales.)
-
Give audience members an opportunity to socialize before and after every performance.
-
Reduce the "distance" between performers and listeners and create a "salon" feel by having introductory comments about each piece.
-
Pay performers, because musicians do highly skilled work and deserve to be compensated for it.
