The GIST Product Planning Framework by Itamar Gilad

Details

For our next event we will be hosting the special guest, Itamar Gilad, who will be sharing a highly effective agile product planning framework that he developed while he was a lead product manager at Google. Itamar calls this The GIST Product Planning Framework, from its four main components: Goals, Ideas, Step-projects, and Tasks. While at Google Itamar was able to use this methodology to help him make groundbreaking innovations and improvements to Gmail.

This event will be ideal for any entrepreneur, aspiring entrepreneur, or anyone working in any aspect of product or technology planning or development.

See below more information about the event and speaker...

"Classic product planning - Strategy --> Roadmaps --> Project plans, is hard work and has low ROI. The plans quickly go out of sync with reality, but worse this type of waterfall planning makes us place big bets on a few chosen ideas and removes agility - changes at the top cause huge ripple effects of re-planning and project cancellations at the bottom.

In this talk I will go over an alternative planning system that I started using while working at Google and further adapted based on the principles of Lean Startup and Agile Development. The system is called GIST after its main building blocks: Goals, Ideas, Step-projects, and Tasks. Together the four parts constitute all the core planning any company and team needs to do - lightweight plans that are built for change with lower management overhead, improved team velocity and autonomy, and ultimately result in better products and solutions."

Itamar Gilad is a product consultant and speaker with over 20 years' experience in product management, lean startup and agile development. In his last role he was lead product manager at Google, launching features such as Gmail's Tabbed Inbox to 1Bn users and leading Gmail's growth team. Prior to Google he worked in the Israeli tech scene in startups as well as at Microsoft and IBM. Itamar holds a B.Sc. in Computer Engineering from the Technion, Israel institute of technology.
