We will meet in front of the Island View Cafe, Marine Drive, West Looe (overlooking Looe Island, Hannafore Point) at 10.00am. From there, we will head down along the harbourside and across the bridge into the main car park. The path leading into Kilminorth Woods starts at the back of the car park and wends along the West Looe River. Hopefully, we will see wildlife, including egrets and kingfishers. This is a mature broadleaf woodland with squirrels and chestnuts in the autumn. Here, we will find the 6th Century Giant's Hedge, which once divided kingdoms of the Dark Ages, centuries before the ancient trees that now tower above it were even seedlings. On our return we can stop in for a drink and/or bite to eat at the Island View Cafe.

Distance: 3-4 miles

Steepness grade: Moderate.

Recommended footwear: Walking boots.

Dogs, which are well-behaved, are always welcome on our walks. There is one stile, next to a gate which is normally open and with a gap beside it. There are no fields with livestock on the route. Dogs will need to be on a lead until we leave the back of the car park on the outward walk and when we return.

You are respectfully reminded that you walk at your own risk. I personally believe it is sensible to carry water, a 24-hour first aid kit, a hat, waterproof, and sunscreen, but I leave that to your discretion.
