We are writers who want to self-publish without hiring someone (well, maybe some editorial help) to get us to the finish line! This is a new group, trying out the Library as our first meeting location. Please give feedback if location is an issue -- thanks!

This is a group where people discuss the mechanics of self publishing a book. Technically, we are writers who want to do the work of graphic designers without having to learn everything known by graphic designers (the old DIY conundrum).
We're gathering together to discuss self publishing. Not marketing, not writing, but the process of weaving and wading through the Print on Demand (POD) procedures for getting your manuscript into book form. This isn't brain surgery. Surely we can figure out how to dumb it down!
We will try the Downtown Dayton Library, a central location, the first few times and see what people think. It's accessible to everybody, and we all know where it is. The AV people are right there -- it's secure, it's near books, and it's free. What more could we want?
I do not have many answers -- mostly questions -- so I'm no expert. (Don't expect expert advice from this group!)
I have ordered this book and have high hopes it will help me: The Self Publishing Checklist.
Bring your suggestions if other manuals have helped you. If you have a self-published book(s) and want to bring copies, please do! If you have specifics on what you learned from your self-publishing experience (good or bad), it would be great if you could bring a list to hand out (if appropriate)! We are all teachers, and we are all students!
