The weather forecast shows no rain, and 69 degrees on this warm Sunday. Let's go for the last scheduled hike, this summer.

The hike to the Watauga Dam is around 6.0 miles in and out. The trail itself is not difficult terrain, but I will call this hike moderate-level because of the distance (3.0 miles one way), and the trail goes up and down a lot. This is a dog friendly hike as long as they are on a leash. It is a popular hike on weekends.

To get to the shook Branch trailhead, from Hampton TN, take Hwy 321 towards Mountain City. Before your arrive at the Shook Brach swimming/recreation area, you will see a gravel parking lot on your left. That's the trailhead.

During the hike, some people like to hike fast, others like go slow (that's me). You hike at your own pace. We will stop for a quick lunch at the Watauga dam. Wear comfortable hiking boots, and I recommend hiking poles because the trail might be muddy or slippery.

Bring water and a snack. Plan on being 3-4 hours on this hike. Specially if you do the entire hike.

If you have any questions, feel you to send me a text at # (661) 210-8670.

See you at the hike!
