Practice Run on the See Jane Run Half Marathon and 5K Course, Alameda

Details

Today we will be meeting at Washington Park in Alameda to run on the actual race course. Anyone entered in the race is welcome to join us! This applies to 5K and Half Marathon Trainees.

In the days leading up to the race, you will want to take some time to visualize in your mind everything you'll be doing. What better way to get a heads up on your race than by experiencing the course first-hand? We will practice on the actual course today. The race follows a "lollipop" style route, with an out-and-back segment and a loop.

One aid station will be available on the course (approx mile 3 and also mile 10 near the bridge) and we will have a id at the start and finish point. But now is also a great time to test your back-up system (in case things go different than planned on race day). Wear the clothes you will wear on race day and practice with the fluids/fuel you plan to carry.

Time: 8:00 AM

Start: Washington Park in Alameda at the corner of 8th and Central

How far? Approx 13.1 or 3.1 (for the 5K) miles along the course. We will mark each mile with chalk and a Garmin. Our mile marks are not certified but are pretty accurate

Why? A practice run on the course can give you a real confidence boost! And, you should be prepared to cover the distance at this point in your training.

What to bring: We will provide water and electrolyte aid along the way but encourage you to "be independent" and have back-up. There are many reasons why, in a race situation, you may want to have some of your own stuff with you.

Another Note: If we have more than 20 runners we will start people in waves. Runners must honor traffic lights and all pedestrian rules. We do not have permission to run on the street for this practice.
