What we’re about
Welcome to the official Meetup group for the 29 Queer Film Festival — a celebration of bold, visionary LGBTQ+ cinema in the heart of California’s High Desert. Each September in Twentynine Palms, we bring together filmmakers, artists, and audiences for three days of screenings, live performances, and community events under the Joshua Tree sky.
Welcome to the 29 Queer Film Festival, the High Desert’s boldest celebration of LGBTQ+ cinema, drag, and community! From September 19–21, 2025, Twentynine Palms comes alive with film premieres, outrageous live performances, and unforgettable themed galas. This year’s lineup features everything from blood-thirsty oranges and killer drag queens to heartfelt desert dramas and globe-spanning queer stories. You’ll feast on local food, cheer for dazzling drag royalty, and maybe even win a raffle prize or two—all under the glittering Joshua Tree sky.
Whether you’re a cinephile, a performer, or just looking for a joyful queer hangout in the desert, 29QFF is your ticket to a weekend of art, laughter, and connection. Join us for opening night thrills at Slay All Day: Queer Horror, swoon over camp classics like Showgirls, and celebrate our community at the Golden Coyote Awards with special guest Brian Michael Smith. Come for the films, stay for the friendships—and leave with memories as colorful and wild as the Mojave itself.
