Sura 17 Ayas 13-15- Presented by Dr Sultan Abdulhameed

Salam,

Dr Sultan Abdulhameed will present Sura 17 Ayas 13-15.

And every human being's destiny have We tied to his or her neck. And We will produce for them an open book on the Day of Resurrection. "Read your record. Sufficient is yourself today to read your account!” Anyone who follows guidance does it for his own good; and anyone who goes astray does it to his own detriment; and no bearer of burdens bears the burden of another.

The insight given in these ayas is that everyone makes his or her own life. It is not what happens to you but what you do that makes the difference for you. Excuses are useless. No one else has the burden of your life. Most people find this hard to believe because they see their life as dominated by others. In what ways is this aya literally true will be discussed in our meeting, and how this understanding gives us tools to take charge of our lives and shape our futures.

Dr Sultan Abdulhameed teaches the Quran at the Muslim Reform Movement Organization in New york in their weekly meetings. His method of teaching focuses on one aya at a time in the interactive method of learning from each person's insight about the aya being discussed. Dr Sultan Abdulhammed has also written a book called "The Quran and The Life of Excellence" and he will be presenting excerpt from his book.
