Speaker: Brandon Knight, MetaMorph
In a world of ever-changing technology, what if you could actually pick and choose the features for your smartphone? You could pick the camera you want for your phone rather than picking your phone for the camera. Join Brandon Knight, project manager for MetaMorph Software, as he discusses Google’s Project Ara, which aims to enable users to create a modular smartphone that is precisely tailored to their functional and aesthetic preferences.
Brandon Knight is project manager at MetaMorph, a local tech start-up. Created with the intention of making hardware design more like software design, the company develops open-source engineering design tools that will make it easier and faster for people to design electronic hardware. Its first major project is developing the software for module developers of Google’s Project Ara (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=intua_p4kE0). With a modular platform, you could have a sensor to test if water is clean. You could have a battery that lasts for days. A really awesome speaker. A gamer phone. Or it could even be your car key. The possibilities are limitless.
