What we're about
Upcoming events (5+)
This will be our 3rd year in a row going to this event. Early bird tickets are available until March 18th for $40. Then, the price goes up! Designated Driver tickets are $5. Event is rain or shine. You MUST bring ID! Buy tickets here: http://www.thebrewingnetwork.com/spring-brews-festival-2019/ No kids, no dogs allowed. There will be food trucks, live music and unlimited tasting from over 60 craft breweries. Todos Santos Square is a short walk from the Concord BART station. I highly recommend you buy tickets ahead of time and get there early as there is typically a long entrance line. The vendors usually start running out of some varieties by 3pm, so don't come too late if you want a good selection. We will find a spot for the group and announce where we are on this app/page. It's not a bad idea to bring a blanket or chair if you want a place to sit. Look for the red balloons!
I reserved the entire 2pm Hazel-Atlas Mine tour spot for our group! We will meet at the Visitor's Center at 1:30pm. Please don't be late as I can't hold the tour for you! From the mid-1920s to the mid-1940s, the Hazel-Atlas Mine produced silica sand to make jars, bottles, and other glass items. Today, tour participants can take a 1309-foot walk into the mine to see mine workings, ore chutes, the shifter's office, and ancient geological features. Check out the website for more info! https://www.ebparks.org/parks/black_diamond/default.htm The tour is not wheelchair accessible. Participants must climb stairs and walk on uneven surfaces. Flashlights and hardhats are provided. Dogs are allowed on leash at the park but not on the tour. Dog fee is $2 per dog. Parking is $5 per vehicle. The tour is 90 minutes long so plan accordingly if you need water. Wear shoes, not sandals. Bring a jacket, the website says the temperature stays in the 50s year round. Directions Take HWY 4 to the Somersville Road exit in Antioch. Drive south on Somersville Road (into the hills) to the parking lot at the end of the road.

We'll hike the Dipsea Trail to Steep Ravine Trail Loop at Mt Tam - this trail is rated as moderate - there are some hills but nothing crazy steep, it's just a little over a 6 mile loop that features rolling hills, great views, flowers, wildlife, and a good portion of trail through the forest. Lots of great scenery! We'll meet at a small parking area near the start of the loop (there is usually parking there and more parking nearby), hike, and grab a bite to eat at a cafe near the end of the trail (GREAT small bites and burgers). If anyone wants to head down to Stinson beach after to catch the sunset, it's right off the trail We'll set up carpools and meet at the Target in Pleasant Hill to do so before driving to the trail. I can fit 3 others + gear in my jeep. Things to bring: Clothing for warm and cool weather - layers are good Plenty of water (at least 1.5 liters) Snacks Sunscreen Good hiking shoes (a decent pair of sneakers is fine for this trail)
