Join us for our second book club meeting!

We will have dinner and then chat about the novel! A discussion guide will be provided. If you attended the first meeting, please remember to bring your journal!

Since October is Depression Awareness Month, the novel we will be discussing is I am the Cage by Allison Sweet Grant.

Description: In a story accented by flashbacks and poetry, Grant's novel is a quietly woven portrait of a young woman's journey to confront the medical trauma intended to "fix" her-and heal her heart in the process. Elizabeth realizes she can no longer outrun the scars of her past, and facing the darkness might be exactly what she needs to find the light.

Reviews:

  • "The sense of powerlessness-and redemption-will stay with you." - Jojo Moyes, #1 bestselling author of Me Before You
  • Heartful, human and true. I loved it." - Markus Zusak, #1 bestselling author of The Book Thief
  • "A story of love, resilience, and healing. What a beautiful, moving, and insightful debut." - Maggie Smith, bestselling author of You Could Make this Place Beautiful
  • "A brilliant book about what we survive-and how." - John Green, #1 bestselling author of The Fault in our Stars

Although it is a work of fiction, the events are based on the author's life, the struggles she experienced, and how she overcame them.

You can find the book on Amazon, at Barnes and Noble, or at your local library!

We encourage you to read as much as you can before the meeting since there will be spoilers!
