Explaining EXPLAIN: Optimize your SQL Like a Pro

Details
Meeting Description
As CF developers we use SQL all the time, but how many of us have really spent time looking under the hood to see how our favorite RDBMS is taking our SQL and actually executing the query? Most databases provide tools to allow you to do just that. In this talk, you'll learn how to take valuable information provided by MySQL's EXPLAIN tool to optimize your queries. Using examples, you'll learn how you can restructure your SQL and/or use smart indexing to improve query performance, sometimes by orders of magnitude.
