12 New Years Resolutions that will make a difference
These are simple and inexpensive things that can be done that will make a difference to your life. Remember, if you can maintain a good habit for 30 consecutive days it will stick. Also small things done over a long period are more effective than extremes over a short period.
Drink
- Drink one 8 oz glass of distilled water (steam distilled water) with one lemon squeezed into it first thing in the morning (cost $.94 per gallon). Distilled water will not leach minerals out of your bones like milk does.
Food
-
Eat equal amounts (50% in calories) of raw vegan and cooked food at each meal. This 50/50 rule is the minimum requirement to prevent an immune response, ideally you should do 80/20 (no meat, dairy, flour, sugar). Protein requirements are 42 grams, for an active raw vegan. One cup of raw nuts is about 26 grams protein; a bunch of spinach is 11 grams protein, an avocado is 5 grams.
-
Try to get 30 to 60 grams of fiber daily, Too much fiber will burden your digestion and too little will neglect your colon. Choose your fiber well, beans are hard to digest, fruit is best if eaten alone and whole, forget the blender. Try apples, bananas, figs and avocados, and try to go organic.
Exercise
-
Aerobic (endurance building) If you can’t get out walking or running, buy a trampoline rebounder (cost $75 to $300) and put in at least 10 minutes daily, this can be done in any weather or physical condition your in, even if you have arthritics problems. You can also do mind games while jumping to build mental multitasking. For example at each jump you read a word or do calculations from a chart while moving your hands in a specific manner.
-
Anaerobic (strength building) if you can’t do weight lifting with dumbbells or barbells due to back problems, buy a total gym (cost $200 to $400). There is one exercise that will strengthen your upper and lower body without hurting your back and you can adjust the percentage of your body weight you lift. No exercise machine will make you lose weight, you must reduce calories.
-
Flexibility (stretching) try to extend your muscles to their full range of motion daily. Namaste Yoga is an excellent choice (yoga mat $20) There are TV programs out there to help you get started. You can also do full range motion exercises on your total gym, plus it can be used as a slant board to hang from your heels to reorient a prolapsed colon.
Vitamins and Minerals
- Forget the processed pills and capsules, and try to get your daily requirement with a juice machine and not a blender (cost of a machine $100 to $400). Mix carrots or apples with greens, lettuce, kale, spinach, celery, parsley, endive. You can literally get your minimum supply of vegetables in two 8 oz glasses of raw juice. Greens should be one pound/glass and carrots or apples 1/3 pound. In the winter try to get adequate vitamin D from the sun or a tanning spa without lotions or sun screens
Detoxification
-
Buy a one or two quart enema kit and start doing weekly enemas with distilled water (cost $25) better kits are available from the Optimal Health Network. All of us have some damage to our colons, so a weekly quart water enema may help, don’t use laxatives in the enema. Eventually you should buy a colema board to make your enemas more convenient (cost $250) Also learn about coffee or castor oil enemas from the Gerson Therapy book by Charlotte Gerson and Morton Walker.
-
Try to do two distilled water fasts per year, 2 or 3 days each.
-
Consider moving all cleaning agents, old paint cans etc. out of the house to the garage. Install a carbon filter on the kitchen and shower faucet to minimize fluoride contamination.
Mental clarity and alertness
-
Try to reduce the mind and emotional taxing elements of our society such as TV, radio and newspaper news. Whenever a TV commercial comes on hit the mute button on your transmitter.
-
Try to reduce contact with argumentative people in your life, even if relatives, life is too short. Calming music or meditation tapes before bedtime will help you get the essential 8 hours of sleep.
