Ferguson Bayou Trail at Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge
Details
The refuge is located in Saginaw County, at the west end of Curtis Road. The nearest cross road would be Curtis Rd and M-13. Let's hike this hidden gem for wildlife viewing. Plan to hike 4.25 to 5.1 miles on flat, wide trails that has views out over the marsh and Shiawassee River. We will hike at 2.8 to 3 miles per hour depending on the size and of the group. It is an easy route. Dogs are not allowed on this trail. If you have binoculars, bring them, SO many birds (egret, herons and many song birds) as well as deer and possible glimpses of a fox and her kits. The fall migration will be begin soon. The scenic drive out there is closed for upgrades but the hiking trails are open; so don't worry if you see large pipes or heavy equipment in the parking area. Dress for the weather and possible mosquitos.
