Mingle and a Movie: Film Night at The Africa Center

Join the 35 and Ticking group for an easy, relaxed Thursday night out—starting with happy hour conversation and ending with a great film.

We’ll begin the evening at Per Bar, where you can grab a drink & food, meet new people, and enjoy casual conversation in a comfortable bar setting. After mingling, we’ll take a short walk together to The Africa Center for the film.

If you enjoy thoughtful conversation, cultural experiences, and independent or international films, this night is designed for you. Whether you’re new to the group or a regular, this is a simple, social way to connect with like-minded adults and enjoy a curated night out in NYC.

• Time: 7-9 pm. The film will end early. There is usually a Q&A with the director. No need to stay if you don't want to!

  In Madagascar, 20-year-old Kwame struggles to make a living in the clandestine sapphire mines. An unexpected event takes him back to his hometown. There, as he is reunited with his mother and old friends, he is also confronted by the rampant corruption that plagues his country. Kwame is forced to choose between easy money and loyalty; between individualism and a political awakening.
