About us
35+ On The Town is a group for grown ups to have some fun, social times. We focus on dinner/drinks, festivals, excursions, game nights, movie nights, museums, crafting, tastings, read 'n' watch discussions, tea rooms, and fun stuff around town. Maybe a little nerdy stuff here and there. Our events are typically in Hillsborough or Pinellas counties, with ones in Pasco occasionally, and we try to spread the locations around, so the drive isn't burdensome for the same people repeatedly.
We are a no-drama group and expect people to be respectful and considerate of others. All backgrounds are welcome.
Please RSVP to events considerately. If you realize you can't attend, please change your RSVP with plenty of time, so those on the waitlist can join. Due to a lot of last minute drops and No Shows, we have changed our approach to posting our evening dinners and many other events. Dinners now will only be posted about a week in advance, and RSVPs will close the day prior to an event.
We do our best to remind people to make sure they're available and to let them know when they've made it off the waitlist and into the event, on top of the notifications the Meetup platform always sends. So, No Shows with no notification of an emergency will be removed from the group. Also, because we close RSVPs the day before most events, backouts on the same day as the event are considered No-Shows. Please just be responsible and considerate with your RSVPs. We give you plenty of notice.
We have a very fun, annual, holiday party with a white elephant gift exchange in Dec. Members who have attended at least 2 events during a given year will have priority in attending.
Just come, be yourself, respect others, and have fun.

š«¶ Deeper Conversations: Love & Kindness from a Different Angle
Chocolate Pi, 5207 N Florida Ave,, Tampa, FL, USCould you use a positive, uplifting conversation? Weāre stepping away from the media focus on romantic love to talk about the platonic and familial bonds that sustain our lifetimes. Men in particular rarely get the opportunity to discuss the "brothers" who have their backs or the relatives who keep them grounded. Please join us to share stories or simply be inspired by acts of kindness and deep connectionsā because romance isn't the only type of love story worth telling!
āDeeper Conversationsā is a monthly event series where we gather in a semi-quiet space to discuss a different, meaningful topic each month. A topic that doesn't usually come up in daily life. These events have become a staple for several of us, so don't wait to RSVP!
I will bring a curated list of conversation starter questions inspired by the card decks sold by popular YouTube channels that foster deep conversations, including Diary of a CEO, Yes Theory, and Eamon & Bec. These questions are vetted to be non-political and non-religious, while sparking meaningful, uplifting, or intellectual conversations. They will be roughly sequenced from lighter to deeper questions, so we can warm up and get to know each other before diving in. Each month's theme will be matched to the season whenever possibleā¦
February's Theme: Love & Kindness
Our culture focuses so much on romantic love that we often overlook the profound meaning and essential benefits of platonic and familial love. This event invites you to shift your focus towards the soul-sustaining love shared with parents, siblings, children, and the "chosen family" friends who anchor our lives. Beyond emotion, we will explore kindness as acts of platonic love. From little acts of kindness to life-altering levels of generosity, come to share or simply be inspired by stories of intentional kindness that left a lasting impact.Example questions include: "What is a small act of kindness that you still remember years later?" AND "For your best friend who feels like family, what made you realize they had shifted from 'friend' to 'family'?"
THEMED VENUE
Iāve chosen Chocolate Pi bakery & dessert shop for its cozy cafe vibes conducive to conversation. They offer a wide selection of house-made desserts, including macarons, slices of pies and cakes, and unique cafe beverages, such as the "salted caramel rose coffee" pictured in the Photos section. Browse their Instagram for a visual feast of their most recent creations. They close at 9PM, so we will be starting at 7PM.IMPORTANT: As usual, RSVPs close 25 hours before the event, so please make any changes before then. No-shows and cancellations after RSVPs close will be removed from this Meetup.
