What we’re about
35+ On The Town is a group for grown ups to have some fun, social times. We focus on dinner/drinks, festivals, excursions, game nights, movie nights, museums, crafting, tastings, read 'n' watch discussions, tea rooms, and fun stuff around town. Maybe a little nerdy stuff here and there. Our events are typically in Hillsborough or Pinellas counties, with ones in Pasco occasionally, and we try to spread the locations around, so the drive isn't burdensome for the same people repeatedly.
We are a no-drama group and expect people to be respectful and considerate of others. All backgrounds are welcome.
Please RSVP to events considerately. If you realize you can't attend, please change your RSVP with plenty of time, so those on the waitlist can join. Due to a lot of last minute drops and No Shows, we have changed our approach to posting our evening dinners and many other events. Dinners now will only be posted about a week in advance, and RSVPs will close the day prior to an event.
We do our best to remind people to make sure they're available and to let them know when they've made it off the waitlist and into the event, on top of the notifications the Meetup platform always sends. So, No Shows with no notification of an emergency will be removed from the group. Also, because we close RSVPs the day before most events, backouts on the same day as the event are considered No-Shows. Please just be responsible and considerate with your RSVPs. We give you plenty of notice.
We have a very fun, annual, holiday party with a white elephant gift exchange in Dec. Members who have attended at least 2 events during a given year will have priority in attending.
Just come, be yourself, respect others, and have fun.

See all- Movie: The Phoenician SchemeNeeds location
So, it's like REALLY hard to plan a movie event before the movie comes out but watch me try anyway.
I dig Wes Anderson and this looks cool. Trailer is here: https://youtu.be/GEuMnPl2WI4
Fun story - I saw Grand Budapest Hotel on a birthday freebie coupon about 5 weeks after it came out, at 2 in the afternoon, on a random weekday. The place was packed with senior citizens (and me) who had all the right reactions in all the right moments and it was a great time. Who knew the cool kids see art house movies in the middle of the day?
I put the time as 1 pm because I'd prefer a mid-day movie, but I am not going to have any idea when or where until probably the week of when theaters update their schedules.
When?
So, leaning Saturday over Sunday (see below)Where?
If we are going to a Regal - it will be the one in New Port Richey because it's 10 miles closer to me than any of the others. If we are going to an AMC, it will be Veteran's.
Why only those two?
Because they are the two that give free popcorn the month of your birthday (thus the preference for 5/31 over 6/1). When you only go to the movies every other year or so - you make it work to get free popcorn. :)UNLIKE OUR OTHER EVENTS IN THIS GROUP, I am not going to hold anyone to an RSVP until much closer to the event when we have any idea when or where.
If you are kinda interested and want to get updated when any of the details come together - RSVP yes and you'll get an email and/or notification when this is finalized. You can make any changes then.
