🕯️ Murder Mystery Dinner: A 1920s Haunted Manor Game
Details
This is an interactive murder mystery game, where you’re part of the story and anyone could be the killer!
It’s Halloween eve, 1926. A lawyer has summoned you to Blackwood Estate for the reading of William Blackwood VI’s Last Will & Testament.
William's family fortune has passed through six generations, but the ghosts of his ancestors never truly let go. They watch and whisper from their portraits on the manor walls. The living have come to find out who will inherit, and the dead have come to decide who deserves it.
Behind polite introductions lie secrets that could change everything. Who expects to gain a fortune? Who fears losing everything? And what would someone do to keep their secrets buried?
Death comes for everyone sooner or later… but tonight, it seems to be arriving ahead of schedule for some.
Three murders. One killer. Too many secrets to count.
Will you uncover the murderer in time?
🥃 HOW IT WORKS
- Wear all-black attire or any color period costume from the 1920s or earlier (entirely optional, see details below).
- BYOB for dinner. Rum and Prohibition-era cocktails would be especially in-character!
- Upon arrival, receive your character's profile with questions to ask, answers to give, secrets to tell, and game instructions.
- Mingle with other characters to uncover their secrets.
- Examine new evidence as three murders unfold.
- Submit your accusation: who committed these murders, why, and what proves it?
- Compete for Top Detective, Best Actor, and Best Costume.
Your organizer, Mortima Graves, the local undertaker, will guide the story as game master.
🎭 NO ACTING REQUIRED
This is a live-action role-playing game (LARP), but no acting experience is needed. Your character sheet will give you all the information you need to play. Adding drama and accents is optional. Just remember, overacting or not acting could be equally suspicious!
🎩 COSTUME IDEAS
Costumes are optional, but strongly encouraged to help create the most immersive experience for everyone. Your outfit will influence your character assignment, so feel free to comment about your costume below to help us plan your character. Three options:
- Living person: wear all black funeral or 1920s mourning attire, such as a black flapper dress, skirt and blouse, suit, tie, or vest. Add black lace, a veil, feather headband, gloves, top hat, bowtie, or pocket watch for a 1920s touch. Modern black clothing works, too!
- Ghost of a dead ancestor: wear any color historical costume from the 1920s or earlier (Victorian, Colonial, Renaissance, Pirate, etc.). Ghosts will receive a white glow stick necklace to create an eerie glow.
- Unsure? Just wear as much black as possible. The fancier, the better!
📍 2 LOCATIONS
We'll gather for a post-burial reception and character assignments in the gazebo at the fictional Blackwood Estate Family Cemetery, played by the Spanish American War Memorial Park across the street from Belle's Pizza Kitchen. Then we'll cross the street for BYOB drinks, dinner, and ice cream inside Belle's (menu). Anything you order from Belle's will be purchased separately on your own check.
Parking is free in the lot behind Belle's Pizza Kitchen and on the street around the restaurant and park.

☠️ EVENT CONFIRMATION & REFUND POLICY
This event will be confirmed when at least 7 people have RSVPed (it'd be too easy to guess the murderer in a small group). If we do not reach this minimum when RSVPs close 48 hours before the event, then the event will be cancelled and you will receive a full refund to your original payment method. You will also receive a full refund if you cancel before the RSVP cutoff time, so please make any changes before then. No-shows and cancellations after RSVPs close will be removed from this Meetup group.
