Join us for The Way Forward on Climate and Agriculture Policy, a special webinar with Peter Lehner, Managing Attorney at Earthjustice, the country’s largest nonprofit public interest environmental law organization. Lehner directs Earthjustice's Sustainable Food & Farming Program, developing strategies to promote a more just and environmentally sound agricultural system and to reduce health, environmental, and climate harms from production of our food. Peter H. Lehner Peter Lehner is Managing Attorney of the Sustainable Food & Farming (SFF) Program at Earthjustice, the country’s largest nonprofit public interest environmental law organization. The SFF Program deploys strategies to promote a more just, environmentally sound, and climate-resilient agricultural system and to reduce the health, environmental, and climate harms from production of our food.
From 2007–2015, Lehner was the Executive Director of the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and the NRDC Action Fund. There, he grew the organization and particularly the climate change and clean energy programs, opened several new offices and programs, and expanded the food system work.
From 1999-2006, he served as Chief of the Environmental Protection Bureau of the New York State Attorney General’s office, supervising all environmental litigation by and against the state. He developed innovative multi-state strategies targeting global warming and air pollution emissions from the nation’s largest electric utilities, spearheaded novel watershed enforcement programs, and led cases addressing invasive species, wildlife protection, and public health.

350NYC (http://350nyc.org) is the the local affiliate of http://350.org , a grassroots network of volunteer-run campaigns in over 188 countries working to prevent climate chaos. Here in New York, we are working locally for a cleaner, greener, better New York City for everyone.
Why the name 350NYC (http://350nyc.org)? 350 means climate safety. To preserve our planet, scientists tell us we must reduce the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere from its current levels of over 420 parts per million to below 350 ppm. (More on the science of 350 (http://350.org/about/science/)). But 350 is more than a number—it’s a symbol of where we need to head as a planet.
