INSTRUCTIONS
The Women's March will start at 11 a.m. and different contingents will have different start times. This is to avoid having thousands of people standing in the cold for hours.
The Women for Climate Justice contingent will assemble at 12pm in Ralph Bunche Park at 43rd St / 1st Ave. and we will walk up 1st Avenue to join the main march at 12:30.
Please bring your banners, signs, songs and chants. NO POLES OR STICKS OR ANYTHING THE NYPD CAN OBJECT TO! For ideas and inspiration for signs check out the Toolkit and feel free to share widely. Weather looks like it will be pretty good but please dress warmly.
CAN YOU VOLUNTEER? Email us at 350nyc@gmail.com
We need help on the day with distributing flyers, marshaling the crowd, carrying banners etc. so please look for people with clip boards and offer to help if you can.
Note: We have disabled the 'discussion' function in Action Network so you will not be slammed with lots of emails. If you need to contact an organizer please email 350NYC@gmail.com

Women for Climate Justice at the March on Washington DC & Sister Marches
General Group Statement
On Saturday January 21, 2017, the day after the U.S. presidential inauguration, thousands of women will gather in Washington D.C. to stand up for our rights, our safety, our health, our families and our communities. A coalition of diverse organizations and individuals will unite and march as a 'Women for Climate Justice' contingent during the Women's March on Washington to stand for the health of our Earth and our global communities.
Throughout the country women and allies will be joining in local marches to carry the same message and here in NYC we expect a strong turn out. We invite all allies to join us in the Women for Climate Justice Contingent at the Women's March in NY.
We will be sending a clear message to the new U.S. Administration that, as women, many of whom stand on the frontlines of climate change across the U.S. and across the world, we are gravely concerned about the impacts of climate change, and the implications of a U.S. Administration that promotes climate skepticism, advancement of fossil fuels, an extractive economy, racism, bigotry and sexist oppression.
We march to reject the rule of the fossil fuel industry and demand that the U.S. government immediately work toward a just transition to a renewable energy future. We stand as women for climate justice, and march for and demand full respect for climate science and immediate action on solutions to this global crisis. We want our children and all future generations to live in a healthy, just and thriving world.
Key Principles
All efforts in organizing for climate justice invoke a frontlines first principle where women most impacted by climate change/ environment, including indigenous women, women with disabilities, women of color, lead in terms of voice and key messages, equally represented in all aspects of decision-making and prioritized in terms of rally spaces and media spots.
