Monthly 350NYC Meeting

Details

350NYC friends,

New York City is home to forests, meadows, and wetlands—more biodiversity than many realize. A new community-led report outlines how NYC can better support nature in every neighborhood. Please join us at on Wednesday to hear from Marielle Anzelone about the new report from the NYC Biodiversity Task Force: "Oaks, Our City, and Us: A Vision for Nature in New York City." (See more about Marielle) Developed by scientists, policy advocates, and community leaders, the report outlines a path for how New York can better care for both its ecosystems and its communities, especially with nature-based solutions as central to climate action. Read the report here.
Hope you can join us Wed to hear about this and Marielle's uplifting and inspiring work! We'll have pizza and drinks starting at 6:30 and launch the meeting at 7.

Marielle Anzelone is an urban ecologist whose work centers on people’s daily connections with nearby nature and the role that design, education, and government can play in fostering this relationship. She is the founder and executive director of NYC Wildflower Week—an organization that produces cultural and educational programming to engage urbanites with the wilds of the Big Apple. Marielle is a regular contributor to the New York Times. She is also advancing local biodiversity policy. A bill that she helped develop, supporting native plants in public landscapes, became law in 2013. Her initiative, PopUP Forest, has inspired organizations around the world from Jakarta to Dublin, Bogota and Lagos to create immersive, nature-based experiences that amplify grassroots efforts for biodiversity conservation in cities.
