Last year there was a cyclist killed on Butler Road in Baltimore County. A few days following his death a number of cyclists rode to Annapolis from Baltimore, with many joining along the B&A trail. We did this to support Tami Bensky, Larry's widow. Tami was in Annapolis just a few short days after her husband's death- to support passage of the 3 foot bill. The bill passed that day due to Tami's testimony, but having 80 or so cyclists there to back her up was also helpful and meaningful.

So, I just got word that Tami will be in Annapolis again this Wednesday to support another bill-HB 363. I'm no expert but I believe the meat of the bill is to hold accountable those who drive in a reckless manner resulting in the death or injury of a cyclist. The bill has passed the house and now awaits a vote by the senate committee. There is one senator, senator Frosh who chairs the committee, he is intent on stopping the bill from coming to a vote. We need to show up in numbers to show that Tami is not alone in urging the passage of this bill. Wednesday is also the sad anniversary of Larry Bensky's death. The driver responsible for his death received a $500.00 fine and 3 points. Crazy, right?

You don't need the whole day off, you can meet in Annapolis or join along the way.

Please contact me for more details. The hearing is open to the public, the idea is to fill the room with cyclists, but make sure you bring I.D. (very important)

We need numbers-and if you know anybody in the media-call them.

Thanks,

Harry
