From Sunrise Movement :
Our action Monday is shaping up to be the largest climate action of the year. Right now, 784 people are signed up to come to DC on Monday, and over 200 signed up yesterday alone.
People are dropping everything and getting in a car, bus, or plane to be part of this moment: from the bus full of high schoolers driving 10 hours from Louisville, KY to the groups coming from hurricane-ravaged Florida, Texas, and North Carolina, to the buses coming from Pennsylvania, Virginia, and New York.
Tomorrow(12/6) at 8pm ET we’re hosting a mass-call to share more about the action plans and key logistical details. If you want more information about the action, you should join -- whether you’re on the fence, or all-in.
(If you haven’t already, sign up to come to DC here. You must register before Friday to get priority for housing and travel support).
What blew me away about the last action at Nancy Pelosi’s office were the powerful stories people shared about what a Green New Deal would mean for them and their community. As we prepare for this action, I want to share a few stories people have shared about why they decided to come on Monday:
17 year old Audrey from Massachusetts: “I should be in school on December 10th, studying for my calculus final, but instead I’ll be 500 miles from home sitting at Congresses door. I cannot allow myself to sit by and let inaction continue. I cannot be complacent and allow for nothing to happen. Inaction on climate change will damage the safety of my future.”
23 year old Isaac from California: “It was hard scraping the money together also my rent, and bills all made it look like it wasn’t going to be possible but I managed because i realized that this is it we need to take a stand the time is now.”
12 year old (!) Haven from Colorado: “I was on the fence about missing school, but I noticed that what is the point of going to school when nobody listens to the educated!"
Join the call tomorrow at 8pm ET to get your questions answered and hear from some of the people who will make this action one that you won’t want to miss.
