I am personally excited that husband and wife team Sunil and Pushpa Kumar have finally re-opened Marigold Maison for lunch. Their food is just as good as I remember it back before 2020. Their lunch menu offers delicious Thali platter options as well as a great variety of other tasty items (menu and food pictures below). They have been recognized by Phoenix Magazine, Fox 10 News, ABC 15, Phoenix New Times, AZ Central and Eater Phoenix.

From their website:
A native of Punjab, India, Kumar’s culinary journey started after relocating to the United States, where he successfully ran four restaurants in Connecticut before moving to Arizona. “Before creating this menu, I traveled all over India—Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Delhi—drawing inspiration from different regions and their unique cooking styles. Now, I regularly revisit these regions to rediscover authentic flavors from various states and villages.”
Marigold Maison’s menu pays homage to cultural staples like korma from the north and vindaloo from the south, while blending these traditional dishes with a modern twist. Kumar emphasizes the importance of keeping the essence of these dishes intact, while making them lighter and healthier for today’s diner. “For example, instead of using cream, I use yogurt and fresh-grind all my spices, ensuring vibrant flavors shine through,” he explains.
Kumar’s dedication to authenticity is further reflected in some of his personal favorites, like saag paneer with spinach and mustard greens, and dal makhani, a classic Punjabi lentil dish that brings back memories of his childhood.
The dining experience at Marigold Maison extends beyond the plate. Sunil Kumar is joined by his wife Pushpa, who works alongside him in the restaurant, creating a true family affair. “Seventy-five percent of our staff are regulars from our previous ventures. We approach every customer with an open heart, treating them like family rather than just patrons.”
