Backpacking Seneca Creek (3 Day route) gear provided, beginners encouraged!
Details
We will be doing a 3-day backpacking route in Seneca Creek Backcountry in West Virginia totaling about 18 miles. Day 1 we will follow Seneca Creek up to what is frequently called the most beautiful campground in West Virginia! Day 2 we will leave our packs, and day hike up to Spruce Knob. Day 3 we will make our way back to the bus to drive home (yes, I said bus!) I have a short bus that we will ride up together in!
Spruce Knob is unique because unlike the rest of its mountain range, it has a distinct alpine vibe to it, making it feel like you’re somewhere in New England. It’s the highest peak in the Allegheny Mountains and the highest point in West Virginia at 4,863 feet. It’s also the 13th most isolated peak in the contiguous U.S., so you’ll certainly find solitude here.
This route is moderately challenging, so be prepared physically to hike while carrying a full pack.
I have backpacking gear that will be provided as a part of the cost of the trip. I will also be planning and preparing meals for the group as well. This means that if it's your first time backpacking, you have all the resources you need to be successful! Just bring your personal gear like clothes, hiking shoes, and water bottles and you are all set! (I'll send you a list of what to bring).
Throughout the trip, there will be some skills lessons so that beginner backpackers can feel comfortable, safe, and knowledgeable.
This event is cross-posted in other groups. Your spot is not reserved until you have paid.
