iMug August - Mobile Apps and Photoshopping the Past

Details

Two old iMug friends are presenting this evening.
Danny Gorog will talk about some new technology, especially involving mobile apps, and Noel Jackling and Peter Green will give Part 2 of their enormously popular Photoshop session on restoring Noel's Douglas DC-2 Uiver aircraft photos.

First Session....and one more new thing!

Danny Gorog

Danny is well known to IMUGgers from his previous talks where he explored the concept of Mobile Apps and twelve months later covered the process of taking an app from idea to the App Store. We also know him through his many exposures in the media.
Danny spoke to IMUG just under two years ago, which is a long time in technology, especially in the field of app development. The many changes since then will be discussed in his talk tonight.

Danny is excited to announce that Snap Send Solve Version 2 from his firm Outware Mobile has just gone live in the App Store. Snap Send Solve is the most popular and convenient way to get things fixed anywhere in Australia.

About DannyDanny is a freelance technologist journalist. His writing has appeared in the Herald Sun, The Age, Macworld Australia, Home Magazine, and ABC Science Online. Danny is also a regular contributor on radio, appearing on SEN's The Run Home and Radio Australia's Breakfast Club. Best of all, he lives in Melbourne. Garry Barker wrote of Danny's success in the Green Guide in 2011, referring to his 'contract app builders Outware, which employs a dozen people and builds apps for government departments and corporations, as well as doing his own thing' Outware Mobile are Australia's most experienced app developers. They have been at the frontier of mobile app development since the iPhone went mainstream in 2009 and have published more apps than any other Australian developer.

Second Session

Photoshopping the past - Part Two

Presenters: Peter Green of MacAdvice and Noel Jackling

http://www.macadvice.com.au

Those of us fortunate to attend the April session will know how captivating Noel and Peter's talk and demonstration of Photoshop techniques was. So much so, that by unanimous request of the group, Peter and Noel agreed to complete their presentation in August. So here it is _ Part 2 ... don't miss this opportunity.

Peter Green will continue his demonstration using Photoshop techniques to bring to life a set of photographs taken in 1934, when a KLM plane flew from London to Melbourne in the MacRobertson International Air Race celebrating Melbourne’s centenary. Noel Jackling will tell us the story behind each photograph.

In April 2012 and 2013, Peter and Noel gave a presentation on the flight of the Douglas DC-2 Uiver in the race with an emphasis on the history. This time the emphasis will continue be on the photoshop techniques, but with the photographs set in their historical context.

Don't miss this informative and stimulating evening!
