Title:
Data science in Clojure: Almost Ready, Already Useful
Abstract:
The Clojure approach towards clear, simple, and playful reasoning may matter a lot for data science.
In the last couple of years, the Clojure ecosystem for data science has been maturing. Most common data science tasks already have excellent Clojure solutions. Just a little polish is still needed before the stack can be offered to any data scientist as a viable option that is fun, powerful, and friendly.
For Clojurians, the emerging stack can already offer a nice, refreshing toolset with cool ways to process, analyze, and visualize data. Arguably, this may be valuable for any Clojurian who has some data to explore.
In this talk, we will overview some of the current tools and libraries in this area, and get to know them through a REPL session, exploring a real-world data problem. We will also discuss some of the current hopes and challenges for the near future.
Basic familiarity with Clojure will be assumed. No background in data science is needed.
Bio:
