Nonprofit Drupal users group: hands-on training
Hosted by Victoria Drupal User Group
Details
Following up on our very successful inaugural meeting, this second in a series of free Drupal workshops for nonprofits will take advantage of the Q College classrooms to focus on hands-on learning and work.
For those of you who missed the first session, we had more than 30 people come out. Representatives from Victoria area nonprofits met with Drupal enthusiasts and experts to share how nonprofits could make better use of Drupal’s powerful web technologies. The overwhelming consensus was that both Drupalistas and nonprofit staff and volunteers would like to keep meeting for skills sharing opportunities.
For the second session we’ll have concurrent groups running. In one room we’ll match up nonprofit groups who have a Drupal website and could use some hands on help to review their site, plan out strategies for improving and ask questions with Drupal enthusiasts who can act as mentors. Depending on numbers, we’ll do this in small groups or work together to go over a few sites together.
If you have a nonprofit site running Drupal, this is your chance to get some free guidance and support. Please come prepared with some questions you’d like help with and if possible details like an administrative login account and password.
In the other room, we’ll provide nonprofit staff and volunteers who don’t have a Drupal website with a hands-on training session so they can start to dabble with Drupal and get a feel for what using the software is all about. Everyone will get a chance to try out a Drupal site, from posting and administering content to making simple configuration changes.
We’ll plan on some time all together at the end where we can report back and continue to plan topics and formats for upcoming sessions.
Thanks to Q College for donating use of the space.
