Dutch Design Week

Details

23 till 31st of October 2010 Eindhoven

Each year in October Dutch Design Week is organized by Design Platform Eindhoven (DPE). DPE is a professional organization that, supported by the Eindhoven Design community, seeks to develop a stimulating and dynamic design climate in all cultural, social and economic domains in the region of Eindhoven. To that end, DPE organizes events, conferences, lectures and workshops based on three major dimensions: cultural stimulation, social cohesion and economic enhancement.

It is DPEs objective to further improve the cultural, economic and professional climate of design in the Eindhoven region and to position Eindhoven nationally and internationally as Design Capital.

The platform seeks to join forces in order to turn Dutch Design Week both nationally and internationally into a distinctive, leading design manifestation for a wide range of target groups. The municipality of Eindhoven is aware of the fact that the design event is a major leverage to promote the design climate of Eindhoven, and has offered financial support.

Shapeways at the Dutch Design Week

Designing is a great thing to do, but positioning your designs successfully in the market can be very though. Shapeways gives each designer the opportunity to produce their own products and to sell these worldwide, with as little effort as possible from the designer. This means you can focus on designing nice products and making sure they are well presented. You can set your own mark-up and you keep the copyrights.

During the Dutch Design Week, Shapeways will show work from successful designers who are selling through the Shapeways website. One of them is the Dutch Designer Michiel Cornelissen. Michiel's work, like the ‘bitt cross’ and ‘ 36 pencil bowl’ is published on https://wired.com , https://mocoloco.com , https://core77.com , https://designboom.com and https://inhabitat.com , and was also displayed during the ICFF 2010 in New York.

Michiel Cornelissen will design the framework of the Shapeways booth; his designs will become the binding factor in the separate elements. For more information about Michiel Cornelissen's work please visit: www.michielcornelissen.com.
