Field Trip: "Phase Shift" AI-Powered Immersive Art at The Lab at StarDust
Overview
Experience AI-powered immersive art that morphs with your movement—perfect for fans of cross-disciplinary, live-responsive visuals and evolving landscapes.
Details
Join 3D Immersive Arts New Mexico for a visit to "Phase Shift", an AI-powered immersive art installation blending Southwestern landscape painting, Polaroid-based mixed media, digital animation, augmented reality, music, and responsive projection.
Created by artist Jess Merritt and digital media artist John-Mark Collins (Ghost Orchestra), the show transforms Merritt’s “Desert Rorschach” works into living, evolving environments. Expect landscapes that morph into reptiles, galaxies, and unexpected forms, all changing in real time in response to the room’s movement and a live DJ.
Why go?
Because this is exactly the kind of cross-disciplinary, art-tech alchemy our immersion-loving group appreciates: analog meets digital, nature meets AI, and nothing looks the same twice.

Look for a maroon UChicago ball cap atop a 6-foot-3 gent wearing glasses (alas, not augmented-reality ones yet!).
