Immersive Art in the Age of Spatial Intelligence: What ChatGPT Can't Do

(Shared time & place with Spatial Computing – Boxing Bear Brewing, Bridges on Tramway)
ChatGPT can write poems, but it doesn’t understand the concept of space. It has no body, no physics, no real sense of how objects relate in 3D.
That limitation is pushing AI into its next frontier: world models, systems trained on video, 3D scans, and spatial data that simulate physical environments and understand cause-and-effect.
Why this matters for immersive artists:
- AI that understands installations as environments
- Tools that can reason about spatial composition
- Real-time adaptive immersive spaces
- Blending generative AI with embodied experience
If immersive art creates experiences people move through, world-model AI aims to help machines move through them too.
This will be an informal, conversation-style meetup, where we think out loud over beverages. No technical background required. Curiosity encouraged.
