WHAT IS THE THRIVE MEETUP?

The Thrive Meetup for Female Founders and Women in Business is managed by The Thrive Effect. The Thrive Effect is the leading membership organisation in Sussex for female founders and women in business.

We have Thrive Meetups in Brighton and Hassocks.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING A THRIVE MEETUP?

During the first half of the Thrive Meetup, members listen to an informative talk delivered by a female founder or woman in business who shares relevant expertise with the group. In the second half of the meetup, members participate in a peer support session during which members identify practical solutions for each other’s business challenges and provide feedback for each other’s ideas.

WHO ATTENDS?

Our Thrive Meetup members come from a range of industries and their businesses are of different ages. If you are tired of the more “traditional” networking activities, then join us at a Thrive Meetup to feel the benefit of being part of an extremely supportive community of female founders and women in business. Women who attend our Thrive Meetups tell us our meetups are inspirational, informative and a great place to make new connections.

Free drinks and refreshments are provided.

OUR PARTNERS - ABI LOCK

Our Thrive Meetup in Hassocks is led by Thrive+ member, Abi Lock.
Abi has a background in recruitment, sales, marketing, business development, account management and HR in a variety of industries from healthcare, events, dental, construction and property. Abi joined the Thrive Meetup in Brighton in 2018 when she was at a crossroads in a corporate career that was not matching her desire to fully smash something out of the park. Coming to the Thrive Meetups enabled her to ignite her passion for learning, starting up and being something new and true to herself. This was all very exciting and daunting, but with the belief, support and resources from peers at Thrive, and brilliant friends and family, Abi has founded a healthcare recruitment business (Lock Healthcare Recruitment - launching soon!), works part-time for a building contractor, is Co-Founder of a local market and is Charity Trustee for her village hall. Abi is the lead for our Thrive Meetup in Hassocks which takes place on the second Tuesday of the month.

OUR PURPOSE

Currently, only 20 per cent of small businesses are led by women (Parliament UK, 2018). As a social enterprise, our purpose is to increase the number of female-led small businesses in the UK so that it is at least equal to the number of male-led businesses.

OUR MISSION

The mission of The Thrive Effect is to give our members the inspiration, knowledge and connections they need to build a business that lasts.

We create opportunities for our members to learn and network with other female founders and women in business via our events and our digital platform (www.thethriveeffect.co.uk).

OUR VALUES

We pride ourselves on following a ‘no-bullshit’ approach to business support.

We deliver practical business support which is inspiring, informative and accessible to a diverse range of female founders and women in business. We are proactive, and most importantly, authentic.

OUR VISION

By 2025, we want to have supported over 10,000 women — via our events and our digital platform — to start, develop or grow their own business.
