Frameworks, Events, and Scala Beer Jeopardy!

Details
Scala comes together again on Thursday November 1st, 6:30pm brought to you by The Network Hub and Okanagan Spring. Get ready for "Frameworks, Events, and Coursera Oh My!" We've got a couple of interesting topics planned and a brief discussion about the new Scala Course on Coursera.
To kick things off, Arthur Gonigberg (Scala extraordinaire) is going to introduce us to a brand new web framework in the works named Objectify.
Objectify is a very small, lightweight framework that aims to enforce the single responsibility principle, aiding encapsulation and to provide dependency injection in Scala, without using singleton objects. It allows developers to separate responsibilities for resolvers, policies, services and responders and to test them each independently in manageable units.
For a quick 5-10min presentation, I'd like to personally present the concept of Event-based processing using PubSub with Akka's "Actor Classification". It's useful for those building real-time applications.
Akka Event Streams and the concept of PubSub have greatly helped us with routing. But a little-known application of this paradigm can be taken to Event-based Processing. Learn how to organize real-time computing into events and processors easily organized by Akka's "Actor Classification".
UPDATED: *****Finally, we'll be having Scala Beer Jeopardy with questions about the new Scala Course on Coursera. It's a 20min session where we split the room into two teams and battle head to head, where points awarded are in the form of Okanagan Spring's new Mild Winter Ale. It's great for those who never had formal introduction to Scala or are just starting. Sign up for the course here: https://www.coursera.org/course/progfun .
Remember to book off Thursday November 1st, 6:30pm and we will see you at The Network Hub 422 Richards St, Vancouver in suite 300 on the top floor. Our post-event watering hole will be at Rogue Wetbar where you can find more Okanagan Spring on tap.
Cheers,
Justin
