Hi and welcome to the '4 Strings Sing' ukulele and singing sessions! ❤️🎶

There are various levels of classes offered on Saturdays & Sundays. This page is for the 4 Strings Sing performance ensemble sessions.

4 STRINGS SING
This "4 Strings Sing" Auckland-based ukulele performing ensemble is a ukulele-centric music collective born out of Sonia's Auckland beginner & intermediate ukulele & singing lessons. After a few years of music sharing, we've decided it's time to play some more shows and bring music out into the city more proactively. We love to share music in various community settings: retirement communities, schools, hospitals, gardens, markets, public places, churches, concert halls, house concerts, etc...

The more, the merrier!
Please feel free to join us if you are an experienced ukulele player and/or singer and would like to take part in this mission of spreading joy through music, far and wide. We are an international, friendly and growing group. We're also on the lookout for percussionists or other keen instrumentalists to add more spice and flavour to our group sound. We do already have a bass player, a banjo player and some baritone uke players.

📍 Location & Access
As many of you know, we’ve recently had to say goodbye to our wonderful venue at the Nix, as my 7-year artist residency with the Ockham Collective has come to an end. On November 8th 2026 onwards, we will be inaugurating a brand new Auckland music venue! The classes will be taking place at a 38 Monmouth Street new music venue called "The Woodshed". This is a lovely spacious and luminous professional music venue with great acoustics that I will be renting on the days I teach classes. There is a free parking lot available right next door that you can access from Nixon Street (a few doors down from our old venue, The Nix) - the individual spaces are marked 38 Monmouth Street and you can park in any of those for free if attending one of my classes (which usually take place on Sundays, occasionally Saturdays) then walk through the gate and enter to the right. I will post some photos of the venue and parking lot for easier access. Please note there is (unfortunately) a flight of stairs to access the venue and the elevator I'd been promised has turned out to be too expensive to build. Sorry about that... I will look into having one or two accessible (no stairs) weeknight classes in Mt Eden Village once I get these classes up and running again.

⚠️ Please note, class times may occasionally vary due to performance commitments, so please sign up via Meetup and check in weekly to stay updated. There is also a WhatsApp group you can opt into for updates if you wish to.

Thanks so much for being part of this community—hope to see you on Sunday!

xoxo Sonia

PS: If you are a listener and would like to sign up to be informed of any concerts we play that are open to the public, please feel free to join this group as well, or you could follow us on our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/4stringssing/
