Siamo un gruppo aperto a tutti che ha come scopo l'approfondimento, lo studio e la diffusione del linguaggio di programmazione Elixir e di qualsiasi altra tecnlogia legata alla BEAM (Erlang) VM.
Chiunque può partecipare, da chi ha già esperienza nel mondo BEAM e vuole ritrovarsi a fare quattro chiacchiere fino a chi non ha mai programmato in Elixir e vorrebbe scoprire perché sta venendo adottato da un numero sempre maggiore di sviluppatori.
= Che cos'è Elixir?
Citando dal sito ufficiale: "Elixir is a dynamic, functional language designed for building scalable and maintainable applications".
Elixir è un linguaggio di programmazione con feature moderne che aiutano a sviluppare in maniera molto agile, appoggiandosi allo stesso tempo sullo sviluppo pluriennale dell'ecosistema Erlang e sulla sua fault-tolerance.
= Che cos'è Erlang
Erlang è un linguaggio di programmazione funzionale sviluppato inizialmente dalla Ericsson nel 1986. Rimane ancora oggi uno dei linguaggi più usati nei sistemi che richiedono di avere un'elevata availability, come ad esempio sistemi bancari o infrastrutture telefoniche.
= Che cos'è la BEAM
La BEAM è la virtual machine su cui viene eseguito il codice Elixir ed Erlang.
= Che cosa si fa durante gli incontri?
Il gruppo è informale e la partecipazione è libera e gratuita. Abbiamo creato il Meetup da poco quindi per ora non abbiamo un formato predefinito.

We're an open group with a focus on the study and the diffusion of the Elixir Programming Language and every other technology related to the BEAM.
Everyone can participate, from experts of the BEAM world who want to meet each other to complete Elixir newbies who want to discover what the fuss is all about.
= What is Elixir?
Citing from its site: "Elixir is a dynamic, functional language designed for building scalable and maintainable applications".
Elixir is a programming language with modern features that help to speed up the development while building on the Erlang ecosystem and its fault-tolerance.
= What is Erlang?
Erlang is a functional programming language originally developed by Ericsson in 1986. It remains one of the most used programming languages where availability is an hard-requirement, for example in banking systems or telecommunication infrastructures.
= What is the BEAM?
The BEAM is the virtual machine that is responsible of interpreting Elixir and Erlang code.
= What happens at the Meetup?
The group is informal and participation is free (as in freedom and as in beer). The Meetup is quite new so we don't have a predefined format yet.
