The Feature Nobody Used (& what it taught me about Product Engineering)

Abstract:
Building out a product is easier than ever before. With AI-assisted coding, we can rapidly spin up proof of concepts and ship features. But speed doesn't equal value. You can vibe-code an entire app in an afternoon but does it solve a real problem? Will anyone actually use it?

Product Engineering bridges this gap. It helps with translating user needs and business outcomes into products that people actually want to use. In this talk, we'll explore how to build with intention, not just velocity.

Bethany Ann is a software engineer who meandered her way into tech after a short career in art and design. She finally found her happy place when she combined her creative roots with software engineering, discovering a passion for the intersection of creativity and technology. As a product engineer, she enjoys building thoughtful, user-centered products and championing for good design along the way.
