Art Factory Sinks Its Fangs into Hilarious New Horror Spoof; DRACULA, A COMEDY OF TERRORS by Gordon Greenberg and Steve Rosen, August 5!
In its first-ever Houston production, this madcap romp through Bram Stoker’s classic novel, DRACULA, A COMEDY OF TERRORS is guaranteed to hypnotize audiences and induce blood-curdling screams… of laughter!
The following press release is to be read in a British accent. (Do your best.)
In a similar scenario to a very long and boring book by an old, old Irishman who is (most likely) dead, we follow our “hero,” Jonathan Harker, a meek, gluten-free real estate broker, as he ventures through Transylvania’s Carpathian Mountains to close a deal with his newest client, the mysterious Count Dracula. Upon entering his foreboding castle and perhaps oversharing a bit, Harker’s life is turned upside down as he stands face to face with the world’s most fiendish and infamous monster! What happens next?! Well, we can’t just tell you that, now can we? I suppose you’ll have to come see the play.
Featuring the innovative stagecraft and unmatchable talent that have become synonymous with Art Factory productions, DRACULA, A COMEDY OF TERRORS sweeps into Houston as a terrifyingly entertaining evening of theatre! A 90-minute plunge into the chilling, zany, and (dare we say) sexy world of Bram Stoker’s immortalized characters, DRACULA sends audiences on a gothic rollercoaster ride at a lightning-fast tempo through every twist and turn! With a dash of Mel Brooks and a pinch of Monty Python, this thrilling and side-splitting new play is certain to have you laughing until it hurts and send shivers down your spine! …And let’s face it… It’s over 100 degrees out there. We all could use a little shiver.
“We are absolutely ecstatic to bring Gordon Greenberg and Steve Rosen’s diabolically hysterical play to Houston ahead of its New York premiere in October!,” says Art Factory’s Founding Artistic Director, Colton Berry. “One of Art Factory’s most important missions is to offer Houston audiences brand new perspectives on familiar works of art. When it comes to a new perspective on Dracula… Well, let me just say… You never saw this one coming!”
DRACULA, A COMEDY OF TERRORS runs August 4 through 13, with Friday and Saturday performances at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday performances at 5:00 p.m. Art Factory is located at The Docks, 1125 Providence St., Houston TX 77002.
