"Making Java Groovy" with Ken Kousen

Details

Hi All,

I'm pleased to announce the initial Meetup of 2014: an evening with Ken Kousen! Ken will be be presenting "Making Java Groovy":

Groovy isn't designed to replace Java—it works with Java to make development simpler. This presentation looks at typical tasks Java developers do—such as testing, working with databases, and using RESTful Web services—and shows how adding Groovy to the mix can make your job easier.

Dr. Kousen is the author of the Manning book "Making Java Groovy (http://www.manning.com/kousen/)" and has presented on Java- and Groovy-related topics for several years. Through his company Kousen IT, Inc., he does consulting, technical training, and mentoring in a wide range of topics, specializing in Java, Groovy, Grails, Spring, Hibernate, and Android. He is an active member of the No Fluff, Just Stuff conference tour, and was recently named a 2013 JavaOne Rock Star.

Ken will graciously bring several copies of "Making Java Groovy (http://www.manning.com/kousen/)" on hand that we'll raffle off during the talk. The raffle will also have a grand prize: the winner will receive a free ticket to No Fluff Just Stuff (http://www.nofluffjuststuff.com/home/main) conference here in Boston on February 28th to March 2nd.

More information on the Boston NFJS can be found here:

As usual, we'll have pizza and drinks available. Doors open at 6:30pm, show starts around 7. Hope to see you all there; it should be exciting!

Regards,

Steve
