Details
***** Please notice the change in time!! *****
The August Destination Health Equity Meeting is about an App designed for "Hacking Racism in Healthcare". One of 20 winning teams, out of more than 700 applicants, was Hidden Health, which designed a patient-provider matching platform and app. One of the team members of Hidden Health, Calbeth, will be our presenter this month. Please note the new time - Friday 1 PM PDT. We hope that this time will work better for most of you!
Calbeth Chika Alaribe is an accomplished and innovative global health program leader who is passionate about medicine, global healthcare management, and social entrepreneurship. She is committed to improving access to quality and affordable healthcare globally; as well as, diversifying the health workforce & promoting gender parity.
MIT held a “hackathon” competition called Hacking Racism in Healthcare a few years ago, in which participants worked to identify problems and develop solutions to dismantle structural racism in health care and address social determinants of health. One of the entries, Hidden Health, is an innovative patient-provider matching platform and app that addresses the problem of the racial discrimination prevalent in patient-provider interactions and institutions. The app creates a space where patients can anonymously learn more about providers’ backgrounds, education, and interests in an effort to select the provider who is best matched to their care needs.
We would be delighted to have to attend the meetup, and share your perspectives in the discussion after Calbeth's presentation. Hope you can make it!
