The most expensive spot on the Monopoly board, Mayfair has been home to politicians, a royal who became king and a very dedicated follower of fashion. Everyone knows how glamourous it is; what is less well-known , however, is part of it was once a red-light district and there have been some less savoury events there. All this and Shepherd Market which is like a country all on its own with wonderful shops and labyrinthian streets.
