Did you hear the one about the gold dealer who was richer than our ex-Queen? Or the TV presenter who, in trying to take down a rock band, catapulted them to fame(notoriety) overnight?
And what do you think of this photo above, showing the top of a magnificent building on Grays Inn Road ? - constructed grandly in 1909 in the French Baroque style with beautiful carvings and a monumental sculpture of Mercury on the top ....... it's now a Travelodge

you just love it?To most people Grays Inn Road is just a way of getting from Chancery Lane to Kings Cross - or visa versa - but to me it's a plethora of fascinating and quirky history.
'So tell us!' I hear you demand..... well for the full story you'll have to join the walk but here's a taster..................................................................
a pub which has played host to Bob Dylan, Shane McGowan and Charlie Chaplin; a health spa, a dental clinic - not just ANY dental clinic -, a pub (yes another pub!) in which a famous heist was planned, a market with a name the meaning of which has been hotly debated , a church with a dramatic sculpture, a Norman Foster building - he of Gherkin fame - , an Edwardian estate which gave us a barrow-boy turned New Romantic and ........just what is the Welsh connection all about?
Cash on the day or, if you prefer, you can arrange payment into my bank
