Leader's choice of trails. Cypress Creek Natural Area is filled with trails. This will be the first of this season of several of my favorite routes in Cypress Creek. Today: THICK WOODS TO OPEN PRAIRIES. Moderate pace of about 2.5 mph on clear sections. It could be a demanding hike for some. We will stop a reasonable number of times. If you are looking for a high intensity workout or a slow stroll this is the wrong hike. Leader determines the pace, route, number of stops, and duration of stops. A walking stick would be helpful. Bring water and a snack. This natural area contains seven native Florida ecosystems: mesic flatwoods, wet flatwoods, hydric hammock, wet prairie, depression marsh, dome swamp, and blackwater stream. If showers are in the forecast, bring a poncho.

Directions: 10035 Indiantown Road, Jupiter, FL. (not a mailing address) The parking lot is located on the north (right) side of Indiantown Road, approximately one mile west of Florida's Turnpike by Jupiter Farms Road on State Road 706, just past Riverbend Park. There is a McDonald's and a Publix across the road from the parking lot. See posted photo. Use either place prior to the hike. No restrooms other than off-trail spots will be found.
