Details

this is a joint meet up event
AN EXCELLENT HIKE AT A MODERATE PACE IN PALM BEACH COUNTY- EVERYONE WELCOME !!!
A 5.5 mile hike on three different trails.
All trails will be dry. Sneakers OK. Lets meet in the rear parking lot near Gator Lake which is on the north side of Northlake Blvd. at 8:00 am for a
medium paced 4.1 mile hike on three different trails. DO NOT GO TO THE GRASSY WATERS ENTRANCE ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF NORTHLAKE BLVD., AS YOU WILL BE AT THE WRONG MEETUP LOCATION.
Hog Hammock Trail: This trail is composed of crushed concrete and with intermittent boardwalks. The area is a combination of restored and natural wetland communities including cabbage palm hammocks, mesic pine flatwoods, forested wetlands and cypress domes. Restrooms and water are available at the parking lot.
Eagle Trail: Newly expanded and opened around the lake.
Cypress Boardwalk: After hiking the Hog Hammock and Eagle trails, we will drive our cars across the road to the Cypress Boardwalk and the Nature Center. The Cypress Boardwalk extends through Marsh and Cypress Swamps. There are Chickee Huts, Benches and even scenically located Rocking Chairs located on the Boardwalk Trail. Wildlife is abundant, scenery unsurpassed.
Grassy Waters Preserve serves as the freshwater supply for the city of West Palm Beach and its associated municipalities.
Please bring water, snack, insect repellent and a smile. Rain cancels. Hike
